7 traffickers behind bars in two days!

Our Senegal team is still in the middle of a spectacular crackdown on an organized ring exporting elephant hair bracelets. The series of arrests today and yesterday locked 7 traffickers behind bars! More than 200 bracelets seized with a minimum value if $65,000! Part of this long term investigation was done in collaboration with French government following seizure of large quantities of the bracelets in Europe.
Investigations still continue exposing a large network of a worrying magnitude. The elephant tails were taken mainly from central Africa through several transit countries.
Charlotte's SALF team was assisted by Serge Ania, head of investigations of LAGA who came to Senegal for the action. The traffickers are well connected and powerful and the fight to keep them behind bars in the face of trafficking in influence attempts is hectic.
