Senegal, 28 Feb 20182 traffickers arrested with two skins of lion heads, one of a leopard and several other skin parts. The two brothers, notorious traffickers, used a shop, owned by one of them, as a cover for their illegal activities. They were arrested at their father´s house during the attempt to sell the contraband.

Congo, 26 Feb 20183 traffickers, one of them former army officer, arrested in the north of the country with 4 tusks, one of them a DRC national. They transported the contraband to the place of transaction in a canoe, concealed in a bag. They all are long-term traffickers, well connected to networks in the country as well as abroad.

A baby chimp rescued and 3 traffickers arrested
Cameroon, 30 Jan 2018A baby chimp rescued and 3 wildlife traffickers arrested trafficking apes and pangolin scales. This tiny orphaned baby chimp was saved by the LAGA team, in an arrest in the south of the country with the authorities. Anna is still taking care of this baby. Only a few months ago and had the trauma of losing a rescued baby chimp after it arrived the sanctuary and is devoted to giving lots of care and love to him before we take him to Ape Action Africa sanctuary for lifetime care. Serge was leading the operation and Aime and Gilbert were in the attack and follow all legal aspects. One of the three is a Niger national. The big sack contains 80 kg of pangolin scales.

Crackdown on a Vietnamese Ivory Criminal Syndicate
Ivory Coast, 25 Jan 2018On 18th January 2018, the EAGLE Network and the government of Ivory Coast began the coordination of Operation “Ivory Stops at Ivory Coast”, a crackdown on an international ivory trafficking network. The leader, a Vietnamese national, was arrested in Abidjan with five other members of his network, a criminal syndicate that has been operating for years in at least seven different countries and is estimated to have generated the slaughter of tens of thousands of elephants for their tusks. Last week’s arrests led to the confiscation of 478 kg ivory, over half a ton of pangolin scales, some packed and ready for export, four illegal handguns, leopard parts, 7 cutting and carving machines and more contraband. The head of the criminal organization in Cote d’Ivoire is directly linked to two prior seizures, one in Vietnam and another in Cambodia, where 619 kg and 941 kg of Ivory seized by authorities, respectively.
