3 ivory traffickers arrested with more than 50 kg of hippo Ivory.
Uganda, 13 Jun 2016Abel led the team to western Uganda where collaboration with the authorities succeeded in netting the traffickers. They were connected to a ring of ivory and hippo ivory traffickers in the western part of Uganda, and had been operating in the area for decades. They are responsible for killing thousands of hippos as well as other wild animals including elephants.

Congo, 12 Jun 2016Good work by Perrine and her team with the Congolese authorities brought another two arrests in connection to the ongoing case. Another leopard tail and an elephant tail were seized. All four are behind bars.

He sold a similar quantity just before the arrest, showing the contraband sleazed is just a snapshot of constant intense illegal trade. The operation was carried in a push to get operations still in May month.

Unfortunately, current conservation efforts are still struggling to keep up with the pace of these threats, but the tide may be turning, as two dedicated marine biologists, with the support from the US Fish and Wildlife Service, are standing up for the elusive species that is also called “Mami Wata” in Cameroon.
