Two arrested with a baby chimp
Cameroon, 28 Sep 2021
2 arrested with a baby chimp following information on the theft of the baby chimp in a sanctuary. The chimp was found in a large storeroom close to a Chinese tiles shop in the country’s economic capital Douala. Two were arrested on the spot and one more, who is considered to be the brain behind the trafficking and was not present during the operation, is still to be arrested. The chimp was found with wounds all over his body as he was kicked around like a football and not given food regularly. The chimp was stolen from a chimpanzee sanctuary in the coastal region. Good work of the LAGA team with wildlife authorities and sanctuary officials.
