Uganda
EAGLE Uganda had been in preparation for months after EAGLE Network ended the cooperation with NRCR. A new team has been built, investigators and legal advisors trained and Lydia Nsubuga, who joined the project as an accountant, proved her leadership skills and became the Assistant Coordinator.
The new project of EAGLE Network has been launched in Uganda in March 2021 by successful arrest of 2 traffickers with 3 ivory tusks. Uganda is famous to be an ivory trafficking hub connecting the central part of the Congo basin with ports in Kenya as well as international markets via air transport. The team pushed for the arrest for several months and was supported by activists from other EAGLE countries. More arrests of ivory traffickers followed soon.
